AI visibility

AI visibility tracking:
does ChatGPT recommend your business?

When somebody asks an assistant to recommend a business like yours, does it say your name? TuBe SEO checks. We put your buyers' real questions to 6 assistants, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode, several times each: did an answer appear, were you cited, were you named.

The problem

Why does AI visibility tracking need its own report?

TuBe SEO reports AI visibility tracking separately because a rankings report cannot see any of it. An assistant answering a buying question names two or three businesses and links a few sources. If you are not in that set, you were never considered. There is no position eleven in an AI answer. In, or out.

You can sit at position three on Google and be absent from the AI answer printed above it. The click never happens, and the business that got named collects your customer.

And assistants do not answer the same way twice. So we ask repeatedly and report a range.

Coverage

Which AI assistants does TuBe SEO check?

TuBe SEO checks 6 of them: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode. Some are assistants people open on purpose. One is built around citing its sources. Two are the AI answers inside an ordinary Google search, reaching buyers who never open an assistant at all. That is where buying questions get answered.

ChatGPTOpenAI

The assistant most customers open first. When it answers a buying question with live web results, it names businesses and lists its sources.

Being one of the names it gives is the whole game. Being one of the sources it links is how you get there.

ClaudeAnthropic

Anthropic's assistant, widely used at work. It answers in careful prose and cites the pages it drew on.

Heavily used for research and vendor shortlists, which is exactly where a B2B buying decision starts.

PerplexityPerplexity AI

An answer engine built around citation. Every claim carries a numbered source right next to it.

The cleanest read on whether your pages are treated as an authority, because the sourcing is explicit rather than implied.

GeminiGoogle

Google's assistant. It answers conversationally and grounds what it says in Google's index and live results.

The closest signal to how Google's wider systems currently understand your business as an entity.

AI OverviewsGoogle Search

The AI answer block that appears above the classic blue links on an ordinary Google search.

It reaches customers who never open an assistant at all, and it is where zero-click behavior bites hardest.

AI ModeGoogle Search

Google's conversational search experience, where follow-up questions get answered in place instead of returning a page of links.

Where a single search turns into a conversation, and a competitor gets a second and third chance to be named.

TuBe SEO has no partnership with, affiliation with, or privileged access to any of these services. Each one is sampled from the outside, the way a customer meets it. Product names and logos belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify what is being measured.

These engines change on their own schedule. When the places buyers ask change, the list we check changes with it.

The three numbers

What exactly gets measured?

For every approved question on every assistant, TuBe SEO records three separate things: did an AI answer appear, was your site linked as a source, and was your business named. They stay separate on purpose. You can be named without being linked, and linked without ever being recommended.

Did an answer appear?

Not every question gets an AI answer; some still return plain links. This tells you which buying questions have moved into the AI layer, where a rankings report goes quiet.

Were you the source?

Did your site appear among the pages the answer drew on? This is the one that can still send you a visitor, and the one you can most directly influence.

Were you named?

Was your business named in the answer, link or no link? This is the recommendation. Somebody who reads "three good options are A, B and C" has a shortlist before a single click.

Why every number comes with a range

Ask an assistant the same question twice and you get two different answers. So we ask repeatedly and report a rate with a range: named in 54% of runs, give or take 5. At 61% next month, something moved; at 56%, the same result wearing a different hat.

  • Asked several times per question, per assistant
  • Reported as a rate with a range, so movement is separable from noise
  • Rolls into your monthly report and exports to a spreadsheet

This is not somebody taking screenshots

Each run is real machinery: live progress in the dashboard, failed runs retried instead of dropped from the count, the exact cost of every call recorded. The meter is visible to you.

  • Live progress while a run happens
  • Failed attempts retried, so the sample stays honest
  • Cost of every call on your account from day one

The questions

How are the questions chosen?

TuBe SEO builds them from your own keyword list, rewritten into the questions a real buyer would ask an assistant, and a person approves every one before anything is spent asking it. Nobody types "emergency plumber austin tx" into ChatGPT. They ask who can come out on a Sunday.

Start from your keywords

Every keyword we track carries live volume, difficulty, ad prices and buying intent. Your AI questions and Google targets stay anchored to the same commercial reality.

Rewrite them as real questions

Keyword strings become natural language: comparisons, best-for, budget, doubts, near-me. A question nobody would ever ask measures nothing.

You approve each one

Every question waits in a queue until a person accepts it. A hard gate, not a setting. No budget goes on a question you did not approve.

Ask, record, repeat

Approved questions go to all 6 assistants on a repeating cycle: answer, citation, mention, every run. Repetition turns observations into rates you can trust.

Why the approval gate exists. Questions times 6 assistants times repeat runs is where an AI visibility program quietly burns money. Approving the list up front keeps the sample tight and the spend on questions that could produce a customer. AI does the heavy lifting, it never takes the wheel. A person on our team signs off before anything reaches your business.

The report clients open first

What is the Mention Gap report?

TuBe SEO's Mention Gap report lists every question where AI answers name a competitor and not you. That is the whole definition. It turns an abstract visibility score into a finite, ordered list of questions you are losing, and each one is a page waiting to be written.

  • Every question where a rival is recommended and you are absent, assistant by assistant
  • The competitors actually being named. Often not who you thought
  • A ready-made list of pages to write, each with proven demand
  • Closed gaps show up as movement in your mention rate, range attached

How a gap becomes a published answer

Mention Gap · example questions
“best [service] company near me”Competitor A, Cyou: absent
“is [service] worth the cost?”Competitor Byou: absent
“[service] vs [alternative]”Competitor A, Dyou: absent
“who does emergency [service] at weekends”Competitor Cyou: absent
“questions to ask a [service] provider”Competitor B, Eyou: cited

AI geogrid

Can AI answers be mapped across a town?

Yes, and they change more than people expect. TuBe SEO's AI geogrid uses the same points as the local map scan, except each point asks Google's AI answer the buying question. The output shows where AI answers name your business, mile by mile. A scan runs 25 points by default and can be raised to 49.

  • Same points as the local map scan, so local ranking and AI mentions sit on one picture
  • Every point is its own check pinned to that spot
  • 25 points by default, 49 at the top setting
  • Recommended downtown, invisible four miles out: now you can see it
  • Scan cost visible, like everything else on your account

What happens next

Where does the fixing actually get done?

Measuring changes nothing on its own. TuBe SEO uses AI visibility tracking to tell you which questions you lose and to whom. Three things change the answer: the pages we write, the technical gates, and the mentions we earn on sources assistants already quote.

Answers built to be quoted

Mention Gap rows become articles: full-length pieces from live research, every statistic tied to a named source, shaped the way assistants consume. Question as heading, direct answer up front, self-contained sections, an FAQ block. Scored against 33 checks, then read by a human editor before publishing.

Inside the writing process

The gates that come before the content

If an assistant cannot fetch or read your pages, nothing you publish gets cited. The readiness audit checks three gates: can crawlers reach the site, including CDN-level blocks; can they read it without JavaScript; is it labelled for a machine. Every finding is graded, with the fix.

Technical SEO and AI readiness

And off the site. One of our five link-prospecting streams is the AI-cited stream: the exact pages assistants already quote in your industry, tagged with the questions they get cited for. A mention on a source an assistant trusts changes what it recommends. Nobody else prospects this way. See how link building works

Straight answers

AI visibility questions we get asked most

Does ChatGPT recommend my business?

That is the question TuBe SEO answers, and nobody knows until it is measured. We put your buyers' real questions to 6 assistants including ChatGPT and Claude, several times each: did an answer appear, were you cited, were you named. Then we show you every question where a competitor gets named instead.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?

No, and anyone promising that is selling you something. Nobody controls what an assistant says. What TuBe SEO offers is measurable: we sample your buyers' questions, record whether you appeared, show you where a rival is recommended instead, then improve what assistants demonstrably draw on: pages they can reach, answers they can lift, mentions on sources they quote.

What is answer engine optimization?

Answer engine optimization, sometimes called AEO or generative engine optimization, is the work of getting your business named inside AI answers rather than ten blue links. Classic SEO wins a position. AEO wins inclusion: there is no position eleven in an AI answer. TuBe SEO runs both from the same keyword list.

Why do you report a range instead of one number?

Because assistants do not answer the same way twice. Ask again and you can get different businesses, different links, or no answer at all. One screenshot proves nothing. TuBe SEO asks each approved question repeatedly and reports a rate with a range, so real change is separable from wobble.

Can AI visibility be tracked for one town or neighbourhood?

Yes, through the AI geogrid. It uses the same points as the local map scan, except each point asks Google's AI answer the buying question. You see where AI answers name your business, mile by mile. A scan runs 25 points by default and can be raised to 49.

What if the AI assistants cannot see my site at all?

More common than most owners expect, and a technical problem before a content problem. TuBe SEO checks three gates first: can crawlers reach your site, including blocks your CDN enforces; can they read the page without running JavaScript; is it labelled for a machine. A closed gate just produces a flat line.
